Adaptive Settlements in areas vulnerable to flooding
SCHOOLS and ORGANIZATIONS: Urban future organization-AA School -London Metropolitan University -South China university of Technology-Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts Workshop 2007

This workshop focus on digital design techniques and prototypical propositions for how new local housing developments attempting to adapt and possibly mitigate for periodical flooding and flash floods caused by severe weather. The workshop brief readily accepts the need for a radical typological and morphological change in how buildings meet the ground and interface with the floodplain in areas vulnerable to severe flooding. Alleviating direct ground contact with living space could potentially save lives and reduce the cost of reconstruction and hence fundamentally readdressing the spatial and typological configurations of the dwellings. Working between the master plan and the individual housing unit, we will investigate the generation of an array of homes suited along a proposed street with an associated potential of parametric modulation within the series. We will discuss the qualitative effects and sociological affects of these serial modulations and explore the internal differentiation and spatial individuality that can be grown through morphing the serial parameters resulting in an adaptive urbanism suited for vast blank sites.

工作坊关注如何用数字技术与类型提案手法来建设地方的住宅以尽最大的努力来尝试减轻定期的洪水和山洪爆发
等恶劣天气导致的灾难。工作坊提倡以激进的类型学的和形态改变学来思考如何使容易受严重洪水攻击地区的建
筑更好地适应于由洪水造成的泛滥平原地面和分界面。减少生存空间聚落与泛洪地面直接接触的面积潜在性地挽
救了人们的生命，也减少了灾后重建付出的代价，因此我们从根本上着手于重新构造住宅的空间与类型以适应这
种需要。在总体规划与单元住宅设计的工作中，我们将研究如何顺着一被提议的街道阵列房子，并把他们连接在
一起，然后在每一个序列里面进行参数调制。同样，在这些序列住宅中我们会讨论参数调制造成的定性影响和社
会性的影响，并且探索如何改变序列住宅的连续参数以使住宅内在的区别和空间的个性能适应于不同都市基地的
建设需要。

随着城市灯光设计的发展，人们在满足功能性照明的同时，装饰性的景观照明大量出现，美化环境的同时却造成了
光污染，未来的景观照明设计应该关注于如何使夜空变黑，还原美丽的星空。
设计在保证功能性照明的前提下，使用电磁波谱中的不可见光红外线部分，利用红外热成像原理，通过改变建筑或
其他物体表面的温度或喷涂发射红外线较多的矿物质并用特殊的媒介使之按原色显现，使人们在静谧的夜空下也能
欣赏到当下 泛滥的光污染造成的所谓的美丽的同时能更好地保护环境。
As the city lighting design developing faster and faster , the unnecessary lighting
decoraction appearedand became worse and worse . In most people’s idea , the decoraction
lighting design should focus on how to make teh night sky back dark , and give back
the human beautiful night sky with moon and the eyes of night .
This project plan on use the invisible part of the infrared in electromagnetic bop , and
according to theelement of heat imaging to change the buildings or something else’s
temperature on surfaces , to wipe some mineral that can sending infrared and then use
some specific medium to make them emerged. then people can also enjoy the impression
of inundant lighting decoration underneath the pure night sky butwithout destroying
the environment .
